What to do at January 1st ?

  1. Realize that there is always time to make a new start for anything !
  2. Keep dreaming
  3. and more important keep on working on those great dreams of you.

Some people they make plans to make life better, New Years Intentions.
I go one step further.

On this day, or actually yesterday, I made a short list of my dreams. Take some time to think about what you wish and hope you can achieve during 2013.
For example: Dream to be financially stable, run your own company, and by the end of the year be able to hire 1 or 2 people staff for your new business venture.
Or plan to buy that dream car or dream house during the next year.

To make it more easy for you, think about the following key-areas in your life: Financial status, Career, Family and Partner, Relationships with people around you, Health and Living.

Make that list now, and print it out, and put it at some place where you regularly find it and can read it back. For example your wallet, so every time you clean up your receipts and organize your money, you find that note again. Its a great way to help you remember what your dreams are about, and more easy to keep working on them.

KEEP ON DREAMING
AND WORK ON YOUR DREAMS !

Read your dream/wish-list every couple of days and work on your own success, your health, financial condition, family, partner and career.

My list is already ready, what about yours …. ?

I am not so much a person to watch many video’s, nor I spend much time in playing games.

But for TED (Wikipedia) I do make exceptions from time to time.

If you don’t know TED.com), than you probably have not been enough around on YouTube.com) and the rest of the net. Not that I want to define ‘enough time on internet’ though.

The speakers are usually very wise and influential people. They know how to send their message and share their passion.
Sometimes its technical, or psychology. Or like last time I was joining TEXxJakarta, a bit of wisdom around evolution, big bangs and the role that we humans play in this universe.
The subjects can be about very detailed scientific research, or just the newest IT gadget. Or about where and how your brain interacts with ‘you’ as a being.

Those are high-level talks, and your level of understanding English should be average above good. Not all information is directly applicable to  our direct lives. But you get a lot of inspiration from it, and helps starting to believe in old dream again. For me it works like that anyway.

In a way watching those video’s or attend a TED meeting/conference motivates people think out of the box. Look beyond the directly visible, or the obvious. Sometime just looking around the corner gives a total different perspective on live, development and your own goal and dreams in your life.

On TED – YouTube, or on TED’s own website you can find plenty of video’s. And if I am right, all speeches are not longer than 18 minutes. A sharp limit. Seems that is the max time you can stay focussed and still able to absorb as much information as possible.

2 of my favourite video’s until now are: The birth of a word: Deb Roy on TED.com and Jason Fried: Why work doesn’t happen at work

Car rental – and some moral

The collector lanes are used as motorcycle lan...

Last weekend we where in Yogyakarta again. Had to do business there and had a great couple of days.

One of those days we rented a car. The owner of this company is a friend of my father-in-law. Only this time most of their own cars where already rented. But friends help each other, and those friends have other friends who help. So somehow in a way I don’t know, but one of the policeman sometimes gives his personal car away to have it rented.
For those things I love Indonesia already much more than ‘the west’.

So we had the comfort of a very new and proper functioning car. And some police accessories included, like a ranking-emblem of his job level, an official police uniform and a *boombox* to have a ‘nice’ bass sound in his car. More

RIM has to filter *x* for Indonesian BlackBerry’s — Updated

BlackBerry

A BlackBerry device

First of all let me make one thing clear, before any wrong thinking about me why I post about this subject.
I am very interested in developments in telecommunication, politics around that and the use of smart-phones e.g. BlackBerry. The subject that has been filtered is not interesting at all. Overall I think this story might give a little insight in political influence here in Indonesia.

As I learned from this story at first in the Jakarta Globe – RIM to Censor Web Porn From BlackBerrys in Indonesia there is a drastic change at hand. RIM, the producer of BlackBerry, had to comply to a lot of demands of the Indonesian government. Specifically by one man (administration) Minister Tifatul Sembiring from the ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
